Introduction

EFIUG’s Peer Education Drive aims to address critical issues affecting youth across Uganda. This document presents policy recommendations for content subjects within the Peer Education Drive, designed to enhance the program’s effectiveness and impact.


1. Comprehensive Curriculum on Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

  • Objective: Develop and integrate a robust curriculum addressing GBV, including Online Sexual Exploitation, into the peer education program.
  • Recommendations:
    • Inclusion of Key Topics: Ensure the curriculum covers various forms of GBV, legal rights, and support mechanisms.
    • Local Relevance: Adapt content to reflect local cultural and socio-economic contexts in Uganda.
    • Expert Involvement: Collaborate with GBV experts and survivors to provide accurate and sensitive content.

2. Online Safety and Child Protection

  • Objective: Equip students with knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely.
  • Recommendations:
    • Digital Literacy: Incorporate lessons on digital etiquette, privacy settings, and recognizing online threats.
    • Parental Involvement: Develop resources for parents to support their children’s online safety.
    • Regular Updates: Ensure content is updated to address emerging online risks and trends.

3. Health Education and Support Services

  • Objective: Provide students with information on health-related issues, including sexual health, mental health, and access to support services.
  • Recommendations:
