At the Annual General meeting held at Pope Paul Hotel and Online today, June 8th, 2020, Dr. Busonga, The EFI board chairperson for three consecutive times has announced he won’t be making a comeback for the seat. The attendees who included the Entire Executive and their managers, the board and community representatives reacted in shock during his final remarks in the meeting.

“Moving forward, I would like to announce today, The End of my service as the Chairperson to the board of directors of this organisation.” He said adding that he appoints Eng. Rehemah Nyanzi as the new chairperson of Eliezah Foundation Initiative.

When asked if she was aware this was happening the EFI secretary general confirmed to us that She wasn’t aware of the Outgoing’s remarks and that he strictly writes his own public speeches so she couldn’t tell what was on paper. “I am shocked, I don’t even know what to tell you, I didn’t know, I didn’t know” Said Janet Nansamba.

Eliezah Foundation has moved with such strength and guidance from Dr. Busonga. He started the organisation in the August of 2005 as a teenager and officially registered it in 2009 as a community organisation. He has brought in resources from both federal and private institutions and the most recent one being ViiV healthcare. He has supported Women enterprises through EFI, financially supported legal aid for women and personally ensured that HIV services are provided by the organisation.

We MUST remember that the first time Dr. Busonga tried to leave was in 2017 when he appointed Dr. Barbara Bynes to take on the chairpersonship, an appointment she turned down saying she had to leave for the United States.

He will be missed.
